Three papers presented at UMAP 2026

Last week, UMAP 2026 took place in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Following our earlier announcement of three accepted full papers, we are pleased to see all three papers presented at the conference. The work was carried out in collaboration with Anouk van Kasteren and Marloes Vredenborg—our affiliate members from Utrecht University—, as well as our collaborators Judit Masthoff and Marit Bentvelzen from Utrecht University, as well as Robin Verachtert and Kim Falk from DPG Media.
The presentations were given by:
- Anouk van Kasteren, who presented our paper on decision-making strategies during public transport disruptions.
- Judit Masthoff, who presented our work led by Marloes Vredenborg on how situational context influences user preferences for explanation tone.
- Robin Verachtert, who presented our large-scale study on diversification methods in news recommendation deployed on NU.nl.
Congratulations to all co-authors, and many thanks to the presenters for sharing the work with the UMAP community.
